India, the Team, and Building a True Global SOC

I came to the United States from India in 1986. I was 21. Everything I built in my first two decades in Silicon Valley was built from here, by teams assembled here, for the North American and global enterprise market.

India was home. It was not yet part of how I built.

In 2003, at the end of the Velio chapter, I made a deliberate decision to change that. Every company I built from that point forward would have India as an integral part - not as an offshore delivery center, not as a cost arbitrage play, but as a genuine capability center where some of the best people working on the hardest problems would choose to be.

Intellectual Culture Over Workforce Arbitrage

The India team at Netenrich represents the fullest expression of that conviction. Over six years, we have assembled a team that I am genuinely proud of - data scientists with deep expertise in the specific ML and graph analytics problems our platform requires, security practitioners who understand the adversary and the enterprise with equal sophistication, data engineers who have built and operated production systems at scales that challenge the best infrastructure in the world.

What makes this team exceptional is not the cost structure it enables - though capital efficiency is real and matters for a bootstrapped company. It is the intellectual culture. The team in India engages with the problems at Netenrich not as requirements to be executed but as questions to be answered. They contribute to the architectural decisions. They challenge the approaches that are not working. They develop capabilities that nobody asked for because they saw an analytical opportunity that the product needed.

The people in India are not supporting the people in the US. They are building the same product, toward the same goal, with the same intellectual investment.
